Hollingsworth Earns 100th Career Win as Alvernia Cruises Past York, 40-6

Reading, Pa. (Feb. 9, 2024) - #14 Alvernia University cruised to a 40-6 win over York College on Friday night in Men's Wrestling action at Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves led just 14-6 early in the match before winning the final five weight classes for the 40-6 win.

Alvernia's Gavin Hollingsworth also picked up his 100th career win with a technical fall to become the second Alvernia wrestler to hit the milestone.

Highlights

A fall at 125 lbs by Keito Shaw got things rolling for Alvernia. After Alvernia gave three points back with a loss by decision at 133 lbs, Alvernia took a 9-3 lead with a 8-2 decision by Garrett Gehr at 141 lbs.
Quinn Tobin then picked up five points for Alvernia with a 15-0 technical fall in just over a minute at 149 lbs, but the Spartans stayed in with a 17-15 decision at 157 lbs.
A technical fall by #1 Matthew Lackman at 165 lbs powered the start of a strong finish for the Golden Wolves. Ryan LePore picked up six points for Alvernia at 174 lbs via a win by forfeit, and Hollingsworth followed with his 100th career win - an 18-0 technical fall at 184 lbs.
The Golden Wolves closed things out with Dan Schweitzer picking up a pin in 1:49 at 197 lbs and Brian Czaus picking up the 18-8 major decision at heavyweight to seal the 40-6 win for the Golden Wolves.

Up Next

Alvernia closes out its regular season on Saturday, February 17th at Ursinus before heading to NCAA Regionals on March 1st. The Golden Wolves are 2-1 all-time against Ursinus, including a commanding 34-3 win last season at Alvernia.
