Frederick, Md (March 22, 2024) - Hood College (12-4, 3-1) scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to secure the 3-0 victory over Alvernia University (8-9, 1-3) in a MAC Commonwealth baseball matchup Friday evening at Hood.
The Golden Wolves and the Blazers were knotted at zero through four innings but the Blazers posted two runs in the fifth and one in the home half of the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. The Blazers then shut down the Golden Wolves in the final three innings to take game one of the MAC Commonwealth series.

How it Happened
- A scoreless first four innings were highlighted by both teams having opportunities to put runs on the board but were unable to push any runs across the plate. The Golden Wolves had runners on second and third in the second inning but could not drive them in and the Blazers had the bases loaded in the home half of the fourth but Chris Sasso was able to get out of the jam to keep the game knotted at zero.
- Hood struck first in the home half of the fifth inning after a two RBI single gave the Blazers a 2-0 lead over the Golden Wolves.
- Another RBI single by the Blazers extended the Hood lead to three, 3-0 after six.
- The Blazers shut the Golden Wolves down in the final three at bats to secure the 3-0 victory and take game one of the MAC Commonwealth series.
