How it Happened
  • Alvernia got things started in its half of the first inning with a single to right field from Mike Ramundo that drove in Luke Jones, who led off the inning by walking, to give Alvernia the 1-0 lead. Alvernia stranded two runners in scoring position later in the inning, but Alvernia still came away from the first with a 1-0 lead.
  • The Alvernia lead didn't last long as the Blazers evened it up with a bases-loaded single up the middle in the top of the second to make it a 1-1 game.
  • Alvernia broke the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the third. With two outs and the bases loaded, Scott Anderson reached via a pinch-hit walk to bring in Jacob Chapman. Alvernia didn't stop there. Ryan Kopf stepped up and hit a double to right to clear the bases and give the Golden Wolves the 5-1 lead.
  • The Blazers got one back in the top of the fourth on a one-out homer to right field from Hood's Alex Jenkins.
  • The Blazers then got another two runs back in the top of the fifth. The first on a deep double to right center, and the second on a throwing error by Alvernia on what would have been the third out of the inning to make it a 5-4 game.
  • Alvernia added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with Mike Ramundo reaching on an error, allowing Luke Jones to score and give Alvernia the 6-4 lead heading into the seventh.
  • The Blazers threatened in the top of the seventh, getting back within one, 6-5, on a fielding error by Alvernia that also kept the inning alive with two outs. But, with the game-tying run on first, Brad Coley struck out Hood's Jake Saylor to secure the 6-5 win for the Golden Wolves.
