Pacers Down Golden Wolves, 14-9

Moky Scores 100th Career Point

Reading, Pa. (March 27, 2024) - Meagan Moky scored her 100th career point, but Alvernia University (4-6) fell to Marywood University (4-6), 14-9, on Wednesday night in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Alvernia. 

The Golden Wolves trailed the Pacers by just one, 6-5, at the half. But, the Pacers used a 6-0 run to double up on Alvernia in the second half to take the game, 14-9.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead through two minutes of action with goals from Olivia McCambly and Sherrin Smith. But, Marywood evened it up at 2-2 with five minutes to play in the first quarter.
  • The Golden Wolves and Pacers traded goals to make it a 3-3 game with under a minute and a half to play in the first quarter. Alvernia's goal came off the stick of Mackenzie McKinney
  • The game was poised to go into the second quarter tied at 3-3, but Alvernia's Haleigh Lackner was able to score with 1.4 seconds on the clock in the first quarter to give Alvernia the 4-3 edge heading into the second frame.
  • The Pacers scored the two opening goals of the second quarter to take a 5-4 lead with 2:13 to play in the half. Alvernia evened it back up at 5-5 with Smith's second of the night with 1:28 to play in the half, but the Pacers scored the final goal of the half with 12 seconds on the clock to take a 6-5 lead into the break.
  • After Marywood scored the opening goal of the half, Alvernia scored three straight goals - including back-to-back goals from Moky as she recorded her 100th career point - to take an 8-7 lead with 7:14 to play in the third quarter.
  • The Pacers responded and scored six straight to take a 13-8 lead with 9:12 to play.
  • Smith's third goal of the night put an end to Marywood's scoring run, but Alvernia could not overcome the deficit as Marywood took the game, 14-9.

Inside the Box Score
  • Meagan Moky led Alvernia with four points off of two goals and two assists.
  • Sherrin Smith finished with a team-high three goals.
  • Haleigh Lackner had a goal and an assist, and also had a team high six caused turnovers and four caused turnovers.
  • Hannah Wolfe had fives saves in goal for Alvernia.
