St. David's, Pa. (April 10, 2024) - Alvernia Women's Tennis (3-5, 2-0) rolled to a 7-2 win over Eastern University (3-7, 0-2) on Wednesday evening in MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis action at Eastern.

The Golden Wolves led 2-1 after singles action and then took five of the six singles matches to take the 7-2 win over the Eagles and improve to 2-0 in conference action.

How it Happened

• Alvernia did not give up a set point at #1 or #2 doubles. Leah Bouchard and Lily Summerson, Monica Nguyen and Jillian Laughman each won their doubles matches by 8-0 decision. The Eagles edged out an 8-6 win at #3 doubles, but Alvernia held the 2-1 advantage heading into singles play. 
• Bouchard and Laughman finished their days without allowing a point as each won their respective #1 and #2 singles, 6-0, 6-0, to give Alvernia the 4-1 advantage.
• Summerson grabbed a 6-2, 6-0 lead at #3 singles to make it a 5-1 match, and Nguyen kept things rolling for Alvernia with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #4 singles to make it 6-1.
• Alvernia picked up its final win at #6 singles as Noelle De Magistris won her match, 6-0, 7-5.
• The Eagles got one point back at #5 singles in the final match to wrap up for the day, but Alvernia came away with the 7-2 win.
