Reading, Pa. (April 20, 2024) - Alvernia University (3-7, 2-2) completed the comeback to take a 5-4 win over Stevenson University (4-7, 1-2) on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth women's tennis action at the Governor Mifflin Courts.

Alvernia trailed 2-1 after doubles action. The duo of Jillian Laughman and Monica Nguyen picked up what would be a crucial point at #2 doubles with an 8-2 win as the match moved into singles play. 

The Golden Wolves then got to work in singles action. Leah Bouchard took #1 singles, 6-2, 6-1 to even the match at 2-2. Jillian Laughman then took #2 singles, 6-3, 7-6 and Lily Summerson took #3 singles, 6-1, 6-0. Monica Nguyen then grabbed a point for Alvernia at #4 singles, 6-3, 6-2 to give Alvernia the 5-2 lead. The Golden Wolves dropped #5 and #6 singles, but the Mustangs could no longer catch Alvernia as the Golden Wolves took the match, 5-4.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday hosting Messiah for its final regular season match. Alvernia is in third place in the conference standings. But, due to weather related postponements, several conference opponents have more than one match to play; including Messiah and York, who are second and fourth in the conference standings.
