Alvernia Falls to Messiah, 14-2

Grantham, Pa (April 24, 2024) - Alvernia University (4-11, 0-6) dropped a MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse matchup to Messiah University (12-4, 5-1) 14-2 on Wednesday night at Messiah. 

The Falcons held the Golden Wolves scoreless through the first three quarters en route to the victory. 

How it Happened 
  • The Falcons scored all five of their goals in the first quarter between the 12 minute mark and the nine minute mark to take a 5-0 lead after the first quarter. 
  • Messiah then tallied all three goals in the second quarter in the final two minutes to take a 8-0 into the half. 
  • The Falcons tallied two goals in the first five minutes of the second half to push the lead to double digits, 10-0. 
  • Messiah then netted three more goals in the third to make it a 13-0 game after three quarters.
  • The Falcons tacked on one more in the fourth to make it 14-0. 
  • The Golden Wolves netted the final two goals of the game after Peter Capasso scored around the 11 minute mark thanks to an assist from Jack Keenan and then Ian Graiff netted his first goal of the season to make it 14-2. 

Inside the Box Score 
  • Graiff and Capasso netted the only two goals for Alvernia and Keenan tallied the lone assist. 
  • Christian Wright caused a team high three turnovers and picked up two ground balls and Nick Geppi also caused two turnovers and scooped up three ground balls. 
  • Dane Sabarese recorded 14 saves in net for Alvernia and Jack Mancha tallied one save in net as well. 
  • Jack Kenney went 10-20 on the faceoff and picked up eight ground balls. 

Up Next 
  • The Golden Wolves are back in action on Saturday when they travel to crosstown rival Albright to take on the Lions in the final MAC Commonwealth matchup of the season. Game time is set for 2:00 PM with the women's team taking on the Lions before at 11:00 AM.
