Frederick, MD (April 6, 2024) - Alvernia Women's Tennis (2-5, 1-0) opened both its spring and MAC Commonwealth schedule on Saturday with a 6-3 win over Hood College (2-4, 0-1) on Saturday afternoon in women's tennis action at Hood.

How it Happened

• Alvernia got out to an early 2-1 lead through doubles action. Leah Bouchard and Lily Summerson picked up an  8-2 win at #1 doubles, and Monica Nguyen and Jillian Laughman also had an 8-2 win at #2 doubles. 
• Bouchard edged out a win at #1 singles to get things started in singles action for Alvernia. Bouchard took the first set, 6-1, narrowly dropped the second set, 7-6. She then won the tiebreaker, 10-8, to take the match.
• Laughman rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at #2 doubles to pick up another point for the Golden Wolves.
• Summerson grabbed a 6-2, 6-2 win at #3 singles, and Monica Nguyen grabbed the sixth point of the day for Alvernia with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #4 singles.
• Alvernia dropped #5 and #6 singles, but the Golden Wolves had the buffer for the 6-3 match win.
