  • Alvernia bounced back in the top of the second with three runs of its own after Bobby Hansen scored on a TCNJ error and then Evan Thomas ripped a two RBI single through the left side to tie it at three.
  • The Golden Wolves then tacked on five more in the third inning to take an 8-3 lead. Timmy Hitchcock started things off with a two RBI single to center and then Hansen followed with another RBI single to make it 6-3. Hitchcock then scored on a fielder's choice by Garrett Hunter and Thomas tallied another RBI single to push the lead to five.
  • TCNJ grabbed one back in the bottom of the third thanks to a solo shot to left to cut it to a 8-4 lead.
  • Hansen added two more in the fourth with a two RBI double to left that scored Matt Edwards and Jason Kelly to make it 10-4.
  • An RBI double down the left field line brought the Lions back within five, 10-5 through four innings of play.
  • The Golden Wolves tacked on five more in the fifth with a bases loaded walk to force in a run and then a wild pitch allowed Kelly to score to tack on two more. Hunter then recorded a sacrifice fly to Edwards and Logan Nelson ripped a two RBI double to right that gave Alvernia a double digit, 15-5 lead.
  • The Lions continued to score runs as well with two more in the home half of the fifth to make it 15-7.
  • TCNJ put up five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull within three, 15-12, late in the ballgame.
  • Hansen kept swinging a hot bat and ripped a solo homer to left to push the lead back to four, 16-12.
