Bethlehem, Pa (August 31, 2024) - Alvernia University (1-2) dropped its final two matches of the Moravian Greyhound Premiere Invitational with 3-0 losses to host Moravian University (2-2) and Lancaster Bible College (4-0) Saturday afternoon in women's volleyball action at Moravian. 

The Golden Wolves took on host school Moravian in the first match of the day and fell in straight sets and then went up against Lancaster Bible where they dropped another match in straight sets. 

Match 1: ALV: 0, MOR: 3

How it Happened 

• The Golden Wolves and the Greyhounds traded the first four points before Moravian went on a 14-3 scoring run to grab a 11 point, 16-5 lead in the first set. 
• The Golden Wolves then responded with a scoring run of their own, a 7-4 run to cut the deficit to eight, 20-12. Allison Wolf recorded two kills and Patricia Falar also recorded a kill. 
• Moravian then ended the first set on a 5-1 run to take the first set by a score of 25-13. 
• Alvernia started the second set by jumping out to a 4-3 lead early thanks to kills from Falar and Cierra Roberts. 
• The Greyhounds responded with five straight points but the Golden Wolves then ripped off a 7-1 scoring run that saw them take a two point, 11-9 lead. Roberts recorded a kill and an ace during the run and Wolf also recorded a kill during the run. 
• Moravian then turned around and went on an 8-2 scoring run to regain the lead and extend its lead to four, 17-13 but the Golden Wolves bounced back by scoring five of the next six points to tie the game at 18. 
• The Greyhounds ended the second set with another scoring run, this one a 7-3 run to secure the second set 25-16. 
• The Golden Wolves got out to another early lead in the third set of the match, taking a 5-3 lead after two kills from Hailey McDevitt and kills from Allie Evangelista and Presley Carnes. 
• Moravian then turned around and ripped off seven straight points to grab the 10-5 lead and force an Alvernia timeout. 
• The Golden Wolves and the Greyhounds went back and forth for the next eight points before the Greyhounds pushed their lead to eight, 19-7. 
• Alvernia then cut the lead to just three, 18-15 after a 6-1 scoring run with kills from Julianna McGlone and Roberts but Moravian continued to rip off runs at the end of sets and tallied seven of the final eight points of the set and take the third set 25-16 to secure the 3-0 victory over Alvernia.

• Allison Wolfe led the way with six kills for the Golden Wolves. 
• Julianna McGlone recorded a team high four aces and 15 digs. 
• Hailey McDevitt and Marli Emrich both recorded six assists and Patricia Falar added five. 

Match 2: LBC: 3, ALV: 0

How it Happened 

• Lancaster Bible jumped out to a big lead early in the first set, scoring nine of the first 12 points to take a 9-3 lead over Alvernia. 
• LBC then ripped off a 12-3 run to push the lead to 15, 21-6. 
• The Chargers then tallied four of the final seven points of the first set to take set one, 25-9 over the Golden Wolves. 
• The Golden Wolves kept with the Chargers at the start of the second set with Lancaster Bible holding just a one point, 6-5 lead. Roberts and Allie Evangelista both recorded kills during the stretch with Roberts tallying two. 
• The Chargers then rattled off a 13-4 scoring run to extend their lead to ten, 19-9. 
• Alvernia ended the second set on an 8-6 scoring run but it was not enough as the Chargers held on to secure a 25-17 victory in the second set. Roberts hammered home three kills during the stretch for the Golden Wolves. 
• Lancaster Bible jumped out to another early lead in the third set, scoring the first seven points before the Golden Wolves halted the scoring run. 
• The Golden Wolves then scored five of the next eight points to cut the lead in half, 10-5 Olivia Rohrbaugh and McGlone both recorded kills for Alvernia during the stretch. 
• LBC then scored six straight points to extend the lead to 11, 16-5. 
• The Chargers continued to control the set, scoring eight of the next 11 points to push the lead to 22-8. 
• The Golden Wolves and the Chargers split the final six points but Lancaster Bible held on to secure the 25-11 victory in the third set and a 3-0 victory in the match. 

Inside the Box Score

• Cierra Roberts recorded a team high seven kills for the Golden Wolves and added one block. 
• Hailey McDevitt tallied a team high 14 digs and 14 assists and also added an ace.
