Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey | | By Marisa Lombardo (Director of Sports Information)

Colonels Down Golden Wolves, 5-1

Wilkes, Pa. (Jan. 25, 2025) - Wilkes University (14-4-0, 12-2-0) used a three goal first period to propel itself to a 5-1 win over Alvernia University (9-8-1, 5-8-1) on Saturday afternoon in MAC women's ice hockey action at Wilkes.

The Colonels opened the game with a goal just 2:13 into the action and made it a 2-0 game less than five minutes into the action on a power play goal. Wilkes then made it a 3-0 game with seven minutes to play in the opening period.

The game remained 3-0 in favor of the Colonels until the third period, when Khenzie Connick got Alvernia on the board off the assist of Laila Tosi. But, the two goal differential did not last long as Wilkes tacked on two more over the next ten minutes. Alvernia had just one shot on net in the final six and a half minutes as Wilkes came away with the 5-1 win.

Khenzie Connick and Laila Tosi each finished with a point. Addy Gularte led Alvernia with three total shots, and Sydney Bradley had a team-high two blocks. Stephanie Skorupa finished with 23 saves in net for the Golden Wolves.

Alvernia is back in action next weekend, hosting Arcadia on Friday at 3:00 PM and heading to Neumann on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
