Solley Sets Career Saves Record, Golden Wolves Grab Scrappy Draw Against Stevens, 1-1

Hoboken, N.J. (October 15, 2025) - Alvernia University (2-7-5) secured a 1-1 draw against Stevens Institute of Technology (3-2-6) thanks to an 83rd minute goal from Zander Templeton Wednesday afternoon in Alvernia's final non-conference matchup of the season at Stevens.

Alvernia senior goalkeeper Evan Solley recorded eight saves on the afternoon and with his eighth save broke the career saves record in Alvernia Men's Soccer program history. Solley now sits at 388 career saves and broke Zach Rider's record of 387 career saves which was set between the years of 2014-2017.

After a scoreless first half, Stevens grabbed the first goal of the game off of a penalty kick goal by Matthew Murrillo in the 60th minute. Alvernia then netted the equalizer in the 83rd minute after Axel Solano and Chase Malone assisted Zander Templeton to tie the game at one.

How it Happened
  • Alvernia's Connor Kraycik had a chance in the 14th minute after a through ball from Josh Ertel sent Kraycik down the right flank, Kraycik collected the pass and ripped a shot on the right side of the goal but it was blocked by a Stevens defender to keep it tied at zero.
  • The Golden Wolves had yet another chance with under 25 minutes to go in the first half after a corner was cleared away by Stevens, Cole Boughter fired a ball to Austin Chambers on the left side of the 18 yard box, Chambers headed the ball back across the face of the Stevens goal but no Alvernia attacker was able to get on the end of it as the game headed to the half tied at zero.
  • The Ducks grabbed the lead in the 60th minute after an Alvernia foul in the box awarded Stevens a penalty kick opportunity. Matthew Murillo stepped up to the spot and converted his opportunity to put the Ducks up 1-0 with 30 minutes to go in the contest.
  • The Golden Wolves fended off seven shots from the Ducks with Solley making three saves in the next 20 minutes of the game before the Golden Wolves found the back of the net.
  • Alvernia leveled the score up in the 83rd minute after Axel Solano played a long ball into the box after a free kick, Solano's ball found the head of Chase Malone who flicked the ball toward goal and Zander Templeton got his boot on the end of it and put the ball into the back of the goal to tie the game at one late in the contest.
  • The Golden Wolves fended off two final shots from Stevens including Solley's 388th save of his career in the final five minutes of the game to secure the 1-1 draw.
