Golden Wolves Take Down Aggies in Straight Sets

Doylestown, Pa. (October 16, 2025) - Alvernia University (7-9) took down Delaware Valley University (7-14), 3-0, Thursday night in a non-conference women's volleyball matchup at Delaware Valley's James Work Gymnasium.

The Golden Wolves battled through all three sets en route to the 3-0 victory and recorded a 25-21 set one win and then tallied back to back victories in set two and three, 26-24 and 27-25 to secure the sweep.

How it Happened
  • The Aggies jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the first set before rattling off a 7-5 scoring run to take a 13-8 lead and forced an Alvernia timeout.
  • The Golden Wolves came out of the timeout and flipped the script as they rattled off a 13-4 scoring run that swung the lead in their favor, 21-17, and forced a Delaware Valley timeout late in the first set. Olivia Rohrbaugh tallied two kills for Alvernia during the run and Hailey McDevitt and Angelina Salera both added kills during the stretch.
  • Alvernia recorded four of the final eight points of the set to secure the 25-21 victory over the Aggies in the first set.
  • Del Val took another early lead in the second set, this one a 3-0 lead but Alvernia responded again with a 9-2 scoring stretch to grab a 9-5 lead over the Aggies.
  • The Golden Wolves and the Aggies traded points back and forth over the next half of the set before the Aggies tallied a 3-1 run that cut the Alvernia lead to two, 17-15, and forced an Alvernia timeout.
  • Del Val then went on a 7-5 scoring run after the Alvernia timeout and leveled the score at 22 a piece late in the second set but the Golden Wolves bounced back and scored four of the final six points of the set to grab a 26-24 victory in the second set and took a 2-0 match lead.
  • The Aggies came out strong at the start of the third set yet again and grabbed a six point, 12-6 lead over the Golden Wolves early on in the third set and then pushed the lead to 15-8 before the Golden Wolves called a timeout to regroup.
  • The Golden Wolves came out of the timeout and ripped off a 11-5 scoring run that cut the Delaware Valley lead to just one, 20-19, as the Aggies were then ones to take a timeout to regroup. Melina Stinsky recorded three kills for Alvernia during the scoring run and Hailey McDevitt added two kills.
  • Alvernia recorded the ensuing point after the timeout to tie the set at 20, but Del Val then recorded the next three points to take a 23-20 lead late in the set.
  • The Golden Wolves responded yet again and recorded four straight points to swing the lead in their favor, 24-23. Allie Evangelista hammered home two kills for Alvernia during the run.
