Klinger, Kraycik Net Late Goals to Power Golden Wolves Past Pride, 2-1

Reading, Pa. (October 28, 2025) - Alvernia University (3-9-6, 1-3-2) netted two goals in the final five minutes of the contest to complete the come from behind victory over Widener University (2-9-5, 1-2-3), 2-1, Tuesday night in a MAC Commonwealth men's soccer clash at Alvernia. 

Widener held a 1-0 lead for 68 minutes of the contest before senior Eli Klinger netted the equalizer for the Golden Wolves in the 86th minute. Fellow senior Connor Kraycik followed Klinger with the game winning goal just a minute and 52 seconds later to secure the 2-1 victory over the Pride. 

How it Happened 
  • Widener grabbed the lead early in the first half after Aiden Sommers found the back of the net after a rebound in the 18th minute of the game to put the Pride up 1-0. 
  • The Golden Wolves tallied four shots at the Widener net in the final 23 minutes of the first half but were unable to put any shots on target as the game headed to the halftime break with Widener holding a 1-0 lead. 
  • The Golden Wolves and the Pride traded shots back and forth in the first 20 minutes of the second half with Alvernia sending two shots on goal that were both saved by Widener's Tristian Willey to keep the Pride in the lead. 
  • Widener had a chance to double its lead in the 79th minute when a shot off the foot of Hector Suriel headed to an open Alvernia net but Alvernia's Jordan Bosco was there to clear it off the goal line and keep it a 1-0 game. 
  • The Golden Wolves then found the equalizer in the 86th minute after Eli Klinger rifled a shot into the back of the net to level the game at one. Joseph Washington fired in a long throw from the far sideline that was cleared up in the air by a Widener defender. Alvernia's Austin Chambers then out jumped the Widener keeper and flicked a header that fell to the foot of Klinger, Klinger then put his left boot through the ball and into the back of the net to tie the game at one. 
  • Alvernia's Connor Kraycik netted the game winner just under two minutes later after he scored an unassisted goal to put the Golden Wolves into the lead, 2-1. Kraycik took a throw-in on the Alvernia sideline and then dribbled his way through the Widener defense before he ripped a shot that was blocked. Kraycik then collected the rebound and immediately ripped a shot that snuck its way inside the left post and into the back of the net to secure the comeback victory over the Pride, 2-1.

  • Alvernia is back in action on Saturday when they travel across town to battle its rival, Albright College at 7:00 PM. The game will mark the end of the regular season for the Golden Wolves.
