Golden Wolves Open 2025-2026 Campaign With 4-0 Shutout over SUNY Morrisville

Morrisville, N.Y. (October 31, 2025) - Four Golden Wolves netted goals as Alvernia University (1-0) posted a 4-0 shutout victory over SUNY Morrisville (0-1) Friday night in a non-conference men's ice hockey matchup at Morrisville's Ice Plex.

The Golden Wolves netted goals in all three periods en route to the 4-0 victory over the Mustangs to open the season with a victory for the third straight season. Matthew Imbriano, Edvin Robertsson, Keegan Driscoll and Leo Cabulis all netted goals for Alvernia and Jeff Kreidler tallied 30 saves in his collegiate debut to keep the shutout.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves got on the board first just under five minutes into the first period after Matthew Imbriano found the back of the net. Joey Arnold picked up the puck off of a Morrisville defender at the blue line, the puck then fell to Imbriano in front of the net and he immediately fired a wrister inside the right post and into the back of the net to put Alvernia up 1-0.
  • Alvernia fired 19 shots at the Morrisville net in the final 13 minutes of the first period and sent ten of those 19 shots on goal but Morrisville's Will Goumas saved all ten as the Golden Wolves headed into the room with a one goal lead after the first 20 minutes.
  • The Golden Wolves doubled their lead six minutes into the second period after Jake Laville flipped the puck to Edvin Robertsson, Robertsson then backhanded the puck across the goal and past the Morrisville goaltender and into the back of the net to make it a 2-0 game.
  • Alvernia made it a three goal lead three minutes later after Keegan Driscoll fired the puck into the back of the net with ten minutes to go in the period to make it a 3-0 Alvernia lead.
  • Alvernia sent ten more shots at the Morrisville net in the final ten minutes of the second period but were unable to add to its lead as they took a three goal lead into the final intermission.
  • The Golden Wolves tacked on another insurance goal seven minutes into the third period thanks to a rocket off the stick of Leo Cabulis. The Golden Wolves gained possession of the puck after Vincent Servizzi blocked a Morrisville shot, Cabulis then picked up the puck and found the stick of Arnold who carried the puck through the neutral zone and across the blue line. Arnold then dropped the puck off for Cabulis and he wound up a slapshot from just inside the blue line that beat the Morrisville goaltender and found the back of the net to make it 4-0. The goal was also Cabulis's first of his collegiate career.
  • Alvernia fended off ten shots by the Mustangs in the final ten minutes to preserve the 4-0 shutout victory in its season opener.
