Golden Wolves Fall to Eagles, 3-0

Reading, Pa (October 8, 2025) - Alvernia University (6-8, 0-3) dropped a MAC Commonwealth women's volleyball match to Eastern University (13-5, 2-1), 3-0, Wednesday night on Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court. 

The Eagles took set on 25-14 and set two 25-15 before the Golden Wolves tested them to the wire in the third set but the Eagles came out on top with a 25-23 set three victory to secure the match win. 

How it Happened 
  • The Golden Wolves and the Eagles traded points back and forth for the first 12 points before the Eagles ripped off a 13-4 scoring run that swung the lead in their favor, 19-10 and forced an Alvernia timeout. 
  • Eastern then recorded a 6-4 run to end the set and secured the 25-14 victory in set one. 
  • Eastern jumped out to an early lead in the second set, an 8-2 lead that forced an early Alvernia timeout. The Eagles came out of the timeout and rattled off six of the next nine points to force a second Alvernia timeout of the set with the Eagles leading 14-5. 
  • Alvernia and Eastern then traded the next 14 points at seven apiece as the Eagles held a 21-12 lead late in the second set. Allie Evangelista, Olivia Rohrbaugh, Emma Remaley and Allison Wolf all recorded kills for Alvernia during the stretch. 
  • The Eagles then scored four of the final seven points of the set to secure a second set victory, 25-15, and took a 2-0 match lead. 
  • The Golden Wolves and the Eagles battled for the first eight points of the set before the Golden Wolves grabbed a 8-6 lead. Remaley tallied two kills for the Golden Wolves and Wolf and Rohrbaugh each added a kill each. 
  • The Golden Wolves then recorded seven of the next 13 points of the third set to take a three point, 15-12 lead and forced an Eastern timeout. 
  • Eastern came out of the timeout and rattled off six of the next seven points to swing the lead in its favor, 18-16 and forced an Alvernia timeout. 
  • The Golden Wolves bounced back with a 5-4 scoring run after the timeout and pulled within one, 22-21, and forced Eastern to take its final timeout of the set. 
  • Alvernia tallied back to back points out of the timeout to give the Golden Wolves the 23-22 lead but the Eagles responded with three straight points to end the third set, 25-23, and secured the 3-0 match victory over Alvernia.
