Alvernia Rolls Past PSU Brandywine, 82-31

Reading, Pa. (Nov. 10, 2025) - Alvernia University (1-1) jumped out to a 24-5 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as the Golden Wolves rolled past Penn State Brandywine (0-2) on Monday night in non-conference women's basketball action at Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves held the Lions to just ten points in the first half - five in each quarter - as Alvernia took a 44-10 lead into the half. Alvernia then allowed just 21 second half points while adding another 38 on the night for the 82-31 final.

Alvernia's 51 point margin of victory marks the largest margin of victory for the Golden Wolves under head coach Rayne deMarteleire. It also marked Alvernia's largest margin of victory since November of 2015 when Alvernia defeated Penn State Berks by 59 points.

How it Happened
  • Taryn Woodson got Alvernia rolling with an opening possession layup, but the Lions took the 3-2 lead a minute and a half later on a 3-pointer by Abigail Adorno. Alvernia answered with another Woodson layup off a Lion turnover, and that sparked a 22-2 run by Alvernia through the remainder of the half. Jordyn Ingelido scored seven during the run, and Grace Dobrzynski came off the bench and made an immediate impact with seven of her own. Alvernia shot 59% from the floor to open the game.
  • The Golden Wolves kept it rolling into the second quarter. Kyla Reed opened the quarter with a layup off a steal, and Woodson and Alani White each put up layups to make it a 31-8 game in favor of the Golden Wolves.
  • Alvernia then pushed it to a 30-point lead, 40-10, with 1:49 to play as Reed converted a free throw. Alvernia added four more off of jumpers from Devon Chamberlain and Jordan Reynolds to take a 44-10 lead into the half. Woodson led Alvernia with 10 first-half points, and Reed had seven rebounds. Alvernia also forced 19 turnovers through the first half.
  • Alvernia stayed hot coming out of the half. Woodson scored Alvernia's first three coming out of the break, bumping Alvernia lead to 35, 47-12. Later in the quarter, Reed hit a driving layup and Chamberlain knocked down a 3-pointer off the bench to push the lead to 39, 53-14. A pair of made free throws by Reynold and another Chamberlain 3-pointer pushed Alvernia's lead up to 44, 58-14, with 3:17 to play in the third. The Golden Wolves added eight more the rest of the quarter - including six points off a pair of Dobrzynski threes - to take a 66-22 lead into the final frame.
  • The Golden Wolves finished off by outsourcing the Lions 16-9 in the final quarter. Alvernia went 6-for-16 from the floor and 2-for-5 from the quarter. Mya Whittington led Alvernia with four points in the corner. Alani White, Paige Garner, and Chamberlain all had three.
