Dutchmen Skate by Golden Wolves, 2-1

Reading, Pa. (November 22, 2025) - Lebanon Valley College (7-1-0, 5-1-0) netted a late goal in the third period to fend off Alvernia University (5-3-0, 4-2-0), 2-1, Saturday afternoon in a MAC women's ice hockey matchup at Body Zone.

The Golden Wolves and the Dutchmen went scoreless in the first 36 minutes of play before LVC got on the board in the final four minutes of the second period to take a 1-0 advantage into the final intermission. The Dutchmen added its second goal with 1:59 to play in the third period but the Golden Wolves answered with a goal just 12 seconds later to pull within one, 2-1, but they were unable to find the leveler as LVC secured the 2-1 victory.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves and Dutchmen played the first period evenly, with both putting up 17 shots. Alvernia outshot the Dutchmen 11-9 on net. The Golden Wolves had the lone power-play of the first period. Alvernia put three shots on net, but could not convert. Alvernia also had four blocks in the period, including a goal saving block by Kathryn Palmer along the goal line with seven minutes to play in the period to help keep the Dutchmen off the board.
  • The Golden Wolves pressured in the early minutes of the second period, sending in 11 shots to Lebanon Valley's four in the first ten minutes of the period. The Golden Wolves nearly broke through at the midpoint of the period as Kathryn Palmer and Josalyn Artrip fired back-to-back shots at Lebanon Valley's Mia Frisoni in net. Frisoni scrambled, fell to the ice, but managed to make a spectacular glove save to keep Alvernia off the board.
  • Later in the period, Alvernia was awarded its first power-play of the period, but it was the Dutchmen who found the back of the net. Lebanon Valley's Addison Tayler broke away at center ice and fired past Stephanie Skorupa in net to put the Dutchmen on the board with a short-handed goal with 3:46 to play in the period.
  • The Golden Wolves had another power-play to close out the period, but could not convert as the Dutchmen took the 1-0 lead into the third.
  • After an early back-and-forth to open the third period, the Dutchmen were awarded a power-play in the eighth minute of the period. Lebanon Valley peppered Skorupa and the Alvernia defense, but the Golden Wolves held strong behind five saves by Skorupa to keep it a 1-0 game.
  • Alvernia killed off a second power-play by the Dutchmen, and then held Lebanon Valley without a shot for nearly six minutes. But, despite the shooting drought, Lebanon Valley added one to its lead with two minutes to play on an even-strength goal.
  • Alvernia won the ensuing faceoff, and Lauren Jascewsky quickly put the Golden Wolves on the board with her first career goal with 1:46 to play.
  • Alvernia won the following faceoff and emptied the net, but the Golden Wolves could not get another shot off as the Dutchmen took the 2-1 win.
