Golden Wolves Shutout Mustangs, 2-0

Reading, Pa. (November 7, 2025) - Anthony Piccininno and Matthew Henry powered Alvernia University (3-0-0, 1-0-0) to a 2-0 shutout victory over Stevenson University (1-2-0, 0-1-0) Friday night in a MAC men's ice hockey clash at Body Zone.

Piccininno and Henry provided the offensive firepower for the Golden Wolves and the Alvernia defense kept the Mustangs out of the goal on the shoulders of first year goaltender Jeff Kreidler who recorded 42 saves in net including 17 in the third period to secure the 2-0 shutout victory.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves fired off four shots at the Mustangs net before Anthony Piccininno found the back of the net after a shot from Will White was saved, Keegan Driscoll then flicked the puck to Piccininno who put the puck into back of the net to give the Golden Wolves a 1-0 lead eight minutes into the game.
  • Alvernia then sent 14 shots at the Stevenson net in the final ten minutes of the first period but were unable to find the back of the net again as they took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
  • The Golden Wolves continued to pepper the Stevenson net and recorded 17 shots at the Mustangs goal before adding a second goal in the final five minutes of the second period. Alvernia buried a power play goal after Driscoll and Piccininno assisted Matthew Henry who fired a shot past the tender and into the back of the net from the blue line to make it a two goal Alvernia lead.
  • The Mustangs fired 20 total shots at the Alvernia goal in the second period and sent 14 on goal but Alvernia's Kreidler saved all 14 of them to keep the Mustangs out of the goal to send the Golden Wolves into the final intermission with a 2-0 lead.
  • The Mustangs led the way in the shot totals in the third period and recorded 24 total shots with 17 shots on goal but were unable to get past the brick wall that was Alvernia's Kreidler who made all 17 saves to secure the 2-0 shutout over the Mustangs.
