Mustangs Down Golden Wolves, 5-3

Reading, Pa. (November 8, 2025) - Stevenson University (2-2-0, 1-1-0) used a three goal third period to secure a 5-3 victory over Alvernia University (3-1-0, 1-1-0) Saturday night in MAC men's ice hockey action at Body Zone. 

The Golden Wolves and the Mustangs were locked at two heading into the final 20 minutes of hockey and Alvernia even grabbed a 3-2 lead early in the third period but Stevenson rattled off three unanswered goals in the final 15 minutes of the game to secure the 5-3 victory. 

How it Happened 
  • Stevenson opened up the scoring in the first nine minutes of the first period when Blake Benson found the back of the net thanks to assists from Jack Karlsson and John Musella to make it a 1-0 game. 
  • The Golden Wolves answered back 30 seconds later when Frazer Dodd won a faceoff in the offensive zone and pulled the puck to Charles Becnel, Becnel then fired the puck into the back of the net to level the game at one with 11 minutes to go in the period. 
  • Alvernia grabbed the lead just under three minutes before the end of the period when Will White connected with Joey Arnold in front of the net to make it a 2-1 Alvernia lead heading into the first intermission. 
  • The Mustangs tallied the only goal of the second period after Connor MacDonell put the puck into the back of the net to tie the game at two heading into the final intermission. 
  • The Golden Wolves came out and answered in the first three minutes of the third period thanks to an Edvin Robertsson power play goal to put Alvernia up 3-2. 
  • Stevenson would chip away and rattled off three goals in the final 13 minutes of the third period to swing the lead in their favor and secure the 5-3 victory.
