Big Fourth Quarter Pushes Dutchmen Past Golden Wolves, 57-47

Reading, Pa. (Dec. 18, 2025) - Lebanon Valley College (8-2) pulled away late to secure a 57-47 win over Alvernia University (3-6) on Thursday evening in non-conference women's basketball action at Alvernia's Jack McCloskey Court.

The Golden Wolves utilized a strong end to the first quarter to take the lead and spark a back-and-forth with the Dutchmen that lasted much of the game. Alvernia led 44-41 going into the fourth quarter and held a 46-45 lead with 8:03 to play. But, the Dutchmen held Alvernia to just three points in the final quarter - including just a point in the final eight minutes - while Lebanon Valley put up 16 to secure the 57-47 win over the Golden Wolves.

How it Happened
  • The Dutchmen led 6-0 through the first four minutes of action and pushed it to a 10-3 lead with just over two minutes to play in the opening frame. The Golden Wolves closed quickly though. A Kyla Reed 3-pointer made it a 10-6 game, and a Samantha Wade jumper off a Devon Chamberlain steal on the Dutchmen inbounds made it a two point game, 10-8, with 1:48 to play in the quarter.
  • The Golden Wolves kept it rolling and tied the game at 10-10 on a Jennah DeGout layup off a Wade steal with 90 seconds to play in the quarter. Alvernia then took the 12-10 lead on a Wade jumper with a minute to play in the quarter. That jumper marked the final points of the quarter as Alvernia held the Dutchmen scoreless for two and half minutes to take the 12-10 lead into the second quarter.
  • The Dutchmen opened the scoring in the second quarter to even the game at 12-12, and the back-and-forth ensued from there. The second quarter saw seven lead changes and five ties, with neither team able to gain ground. The Golden Wolves took a late 25-24 lead on a driving layup by Reed with a minute to play in the half, but the Dutchmen answered and retook the lead, 26-25, on a pull-up jumper with 42 seconds to play. Alvernia then evened it up at 26-26 as Jordyn Ingelido went 1-for-2 from the free throw line. The score remained 26-26 going into the half.
  • The Dutchmen took a 29-26 lead through the first two minutes of the second half, but Alvernia got back within one, 29-28, on a pair of made free throws by Olivia Burke. The two sides then exchanged 3-pointers before Alvernia took the lead, 33-32, on a DeGout layup off a Wade steal with 5:47 to play in the quarter.
  • After an exchange of the lead, a Taryn Woodson layup and Wade layup gave Alvernia the 39-36 with three minutes to play in the quarter. Alvernia then pushed it to a five point advantage, 41-36 on an Alani White jumper. Alvernia then went on to take a 44-41 lead going into the half.
  • The Dutchmen got within one on a layup in the opening minute of the fourth quarter and took the 45-44 lead with 8:20 to play. Alvernia took the lead back, 46-45, on a putback jumper by Woodson. But, the Golden Wolves were held to just one point - a DeGout free throw - in the final eight minutes. Lebanon Valley outscored Alvernia 12-1 across the remainder of the quarter to secure the 57-47 win.
