Ava Michael earned NFHCA All-Region honors for her performance during the 2025 season, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Wednesday morning.
Michael earned First Team NFHCA All-Region in Region Five. This is the second straight season that Michael has earned All-Region honors. She was a second team honoree in 2024.
Michael, the 2025 MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year, had a career-year for the Golden Wolves. Michael started in all 19 games for the Golden Wolves this season. She finished the year with 18 goals and five assists. Michael had five game-winning goals this season and had five multi-goal games. Michael scored two or more points in 11 of Alvernia's 19 games. Michael's 41 points and 18 goals are both the most by an Alvernia Field Hockey player since 2016 when Margaret Wentzel recorded 59 points and scored 19 goals.Â
Michael had a strong stretch to finish the season, scoring 10 of Alvernia's 15 goals scored in conference play. She also scored all eight of Alvernia's goals across its final four games of the season.
Michael led the MAC Commonwealth in goals scored, scoring four more than the second leading goal-scorer in the conference. She also led the MAC Commonwealth in total points with 41, finishing with nine more points than the second leading point scorer. Her average of 0.85 goals per game ranked her 24th in the nation, and her 2.16 points per game also ranked her 27th in the nation.Â
Division III teams are separated into six regions and each of these regions recognizes up to 16 student-athletes on both the first team and second teams. Michael joins Messiah's Lillian Peters and York's Olivia Miller as MAC Commonwealth representatives on the Region Five First Team.
