Seven Golden Wolves Earn NFHCA National Academic Squad Honors

Colorado Springs, Colo. (February 12, 2026) - Seven Alvernia University Field Hockey student-athletes earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) National Academic Squad honors Thursday as announced by the NFHCA.

Matisyn Derkacs, Jennah Hershberger, Carley Mackert, Caroline Martin, Kelsy McClintock, Sofia Mollura and Sarah Schaffer all earned National Academic honors for excelling in the classroom during the fall semester and recording a 3.50 GPA or higher during the season.

The NFHCA National Academic Squad celebrates the academic excellence of undergraduate collegiate student-athletes. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon individuals who have attained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester of the current academic year, and who have been nominated by their dedicated NFHCA member coaches.

The MAC had 188 total honorees with the Commonwealth placing 108 student-athletes on the National Academic squad and the Freedom placed 80. 21 MAC student-athletes earned honors in all four years of their careers and Stevenson led all MAC schools with 23 honorees.

The NFHCA Scholar of Distinction will be announced Feb. 13, the NFHCA Academic Team on Feb. 17, and the National Scholar-Athlete on Feb. 19
