Neumann Nets Late Game-Winner to Down Golden Wolves, 2-1

Reading, Pa. (Dec. 5, 2025) - Neumann University (7-2-1, 6-0-1) netted the game-winner with 2:20 to play to defeat Alvernia University (5-6-0, 3-4-0), 2-1, on Friday night in MAC Men's Ice Hockey action.

Alvernia got on the board first with a goal six minutes into the game. The Knights then scored two unanswered - including the game-winner with 2:20 to play - to secure the 2-1 win.

How it Happened
Leo Cabulis put Alvernia on the board with a goal six minutes into the game off the assist of Will White. Cabulis broke away off the conclusion of a Neumann power-play and fired into goal to give Alvernia the 1-0 lead early. Alvernia outshot the Knights 14-9 in the first period as Alvernia took the 1-0 lead into the second.

Neumann maintained steady possession through the first half of the second period, and the Knights broke through in the 13th minute of the period on an unassisted goal to even the game at 1-1.

The game remained tied for the next 25 minutes until the Knights broke the tie with a go-ahead goal with 2:21 to play in regulation.

Alvernia then had to go on a penalty kill for the final two minutes. The Golden Wolves called a timeout and went empty-net. The Golden Wolves prevented a Neumann shot the rest of the way while sending in three shots on goal of their own. But, the Golden Wolves could not find the equalizer as Neumann came away with the 2-1 win.

Inside the Box Score
Leo Cabulis finished with Alvernia's lone goal, and Will White had the assist. Connor Graham made his first career start in net and made 28 saves.

Matthew Imbriano led Alvernia with 10 faceoff wins. Imbriano and White finished with two blocks.

Alvernia looks to even the series tomorrow afternoon with a 4:00 PM home matchup against the Knights.
