Gularte’s OT Goal Lifts Golden Wolves Over Dutchmen, 2-1

Reading, Pa (February 21, 2025) - Alvernia University (14-9-2, 10-9-2) capped off its regular season with a 2-1 victory over Lebanon Valley College (16-7-1, 13-6-1) thanks to a Addy Gularte overtime winner Friday night in a MAC women's ice hockey clash at BodyZone.

After a scoreless first two periods of hockey both the Golden Wolves and the Dutchmen buried pucks into the back of the net to send the game to overtime tied at one. Gularte then netted the game winner in the first two minutes of the overtime period to give the Golden Wolves the 2-1 victory over the Dutchmen.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves and the Dutchmen both recorded 11 shots on goal in the first period with Alvernia's Marissa Caswell led the Golden Wolves with two shots on goal in the period. Nine other Golden Wolves recorded shots on goal in the first period as well as the game headed to the first intermission tied at zero.
  • Alvernia then controlled the offensive zone in the second period and recorded 11 shots on goal to LVC's two. Khenzie Connick, Emma Hart and Gularte all recorded two shots on goal for the Golden Wolves during the period but neither team could find the back of the net as the game headed to the final intermission still locked at zero.
  • LVC got on the board first in the first four minutes of the third period after Cheyenne Wilk assisted Maeghan Howson to give the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead early in the period.
  • The Golden Wolves responded just over two minutes later when Laila Tosi connected with Marissa Caswell who put the puck into the back of the net to level the score at one with under 15 minutes to play in the period.
  • Alvernia would send 14 shots at the LVC goal with five going on net in the final 15 minutes of regulation but were unable to put the puck into the back of the net as the game headed to the overtime period locked at one.
  • It took the Golden Wolves just one minute and 52 seconds to find the game winner after Gularte gathered the puck in the neutral zone, Gularte then took the puck up the left side of the ice, and fired the puck inside the left post and past the Dutchmen goaltender to win it for the Golden Wolves and cap off the regular season with a win.
