Golden Wolves Fall to Mustangs, 94-53

Mullan notched his 1,000th career point in the setback

Owings Mills, Md. (February 22, 2025) - Alvernia University (15-10, 7-7) dropped its regular season finale to Stevenson University (9-16, 3-11) 94-53, Saturday afternoon in a MAC Commonwealth men's basketball matchup at Stevenson. 

Alvernia fifth year guard Robert Mullan became the 30th Alvernia men's basketball player to record 1,000th career points with a driving layup in the first half. 

How it Happened
  • Alvernia grabbed the early 12-9 lead and maintained it for the first six minutes of the first half thanks to four points from Robert Cottrell and Elijah Hamilton. Robert Mullan recorded a driving layup with 15 minutes left in the first half to record his 1,000th career point. 
  • Stevenson then responded with a 24-9 scoring run over the next ten minutes that would swing the lead in favor of the Mustangs, 33-21 with under five to play in the half. 
  • The Mustangs kept the momentum going and ended the first half with 11 of the final 18 points scored to take a 16 point, 44-28 lead over the Golden Wolves. 
  • Janye Stanley led Alvernia in the first half with seven points, Cottrell added six and Hamilton recorded four. 
  • The Mustangs kept the momentum and outscored the Golden Wolves 50-25 in the second half to secure the 94-53 victory.

  • The Golden Wolves are back in action in the MAC Commonwealth Championships on Wednesday when they travel across town to Albright College to take on the #1 ranked Lions in a MAC Commonwealth semifinal. The matchup will be the first time in program history that the Golden Wolves will play the Lions in a playoff game. Tip off has yet to be determined.
