Palmer, Connick Lead Golden Wolves Past Monarchs, 3-1

Reading, Pa (February 7, 2025) - Kathryn Palmer netted two goals and Khenzie Connick added the third to power Alvernia University (11-8-2, 7-8-2) to a 3-1 victory over King's College (5-12-3, 5-9-3) Friday night in a MAC women's ice hockey matchup at BodyZone.

The Golden Wolves netted a goal in all three periods with Palmer tallying the first two thanks to assists from Julia Franklin on both goals. Connick then sealed the deal with an unassisted solo goal to secure the 3-1 victory over the Monarchs.

How it Happened
  • King's sent four shots at the Alvernia net in the first eight minutes of play before Abby Barlocker put the puck into the back of the net after assists from Jordan Dittmar and Kait Wolf to give the Monarchs a 1-0 advantage early in the contest.
  • The Golden Wolves leveled the score in the final five minutes of the first period after Julia Franklin picked up the puck in Alvernia's defensive zone, Franklin took the puck all the way into the offensive zone and connected with Kathryn Palmer who flipped the puck past the King's goalie and into the back of the net to make it 1-1 heading into the first intermission.
  • Alvernia sent 19 shots at the King's net in the first 12 minutes of the second period before the Golden Wolves grabbed the lead with just over seven minutes to go in the second period. Palmer netted her second goal of the game thanks to another assist from Franklin to give the Golden Wolves a one goal, 2-1 lead.
  • The Golden Wolves would fire five more shots on goal in the final six minutes of the period but could not extend the lead as Alvernia went into the final intermission with a 2-1 lead.
  • Alvernia tacked on one more goal for insurance with ten minutes to play in the third period after Khenzie Connick netted an unassisted wonder goal to make it 3-1 Golden Wolves.
  • The Golden Wolves defense would continue to play well and held King's to just two shots on goal in the final ten minutes that were both saved by Alvernia's Juju Rodgers as the Golden Wolves secured the 3-1 victory over the Monarchs.
