Golden Wolves Blow by Blazers, 4-0, On Senior Day

Reading, Pa (February 8, 2025) - Alvernia University (12-8-2, 8-8-2) had four different goal scorers en route to a 4-0 victory over Hood College (4-17-1, 2-15-1) Saturday afternoon in a MAC women's ice hockey clash at BodyZone.

Prior to the game, Alvernia Women's Ice Hockey honored its 2025 senior class.

The Golden Wolves held a 2-0 lead after the first two periods thanks to a Sydney Bradley goal in the first period and a Riley Hill goal in the second. The Golden Wolves then netted two insurance goals in the third period to secure the 4-0 victory over the Blazers.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves struck first in the final three minutes of the first period when Julia Franklin and Kathryn Palmer assisted Sydney Bradley who fired the puck into the back of the net from the blue line to give the Golden Wolves a 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.
  • Alvernia fired 13 shots at the Hood net in the first 14 minutes of the second period before the Golden Wolves doubled the lead with six minutes to go in the period. Moa Lagh passed the puck to Bradley across the blue line, Bradley then centered the puck to Riley Hill who put the puck into the back of the net to give the Golden Wolves a 2-0 advantage late in the second period.
  • The Blazers sent four shots at the Alvernia net including two on goal but the Alvernia defense and goalie Stephanie Skorupa held strong as the Golden Wolves took a 2-0 lead into the final intermission.
  • Alvernia recorded ten shots on goal in the first 15 minutes of the third period before Palmer added her name to the scoresheet after she netted a goal with 4:10 left to go in the game thanks to an assist from Noelle De Magistris made it 3-0 Golden Wolves.
  • The Golden Wolves added one more insurance goal in the final two minutes of the game after Emma Hart picked up the puck by the blue line, she then skated into the Alvernia offensive zone, made a move on a defender and then ripped the puck back across the goal and snuck it inside the left post and past the goaltender to make it 4-0 Golden Wolves.
