Alvernia Falls to Susquehanna, 11-3

Reading, Pa. (March 25, 2025) - Alvernia Women's Lacrosse (2-7) dropped an 11-3 decision to Susquehanna University (4-5) on Tuesday night in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The River Hawks held Alvernia scoreless for just over 45 minutes while taking a 9-0 lead on the Golden Wolves. Alvernia scored three in the fourth quarter to get on the board and prevent the 10-goal running clock, but the River Hawks added two more in the quarter for the 11-3 win.

After a scoreless 11 minutes, Susquehanna got on the board with a goal with 4:08 to play in the first. The River Hawks then made it a 2-0 game on a buzzer-beater goal to close out the first quarter. Susquehanna tacked on four more in the second quarter to take a 6-0 lead into the half, and added three more in the third for the 9-0 lead going into the final 15 minutes.

Sherrin Smith got Alvernia on the board with a goal in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, and she made it a 9-2 game three minutes later with her second of the evening. The River Hawks responded with two goals of their own to retake the nine goal lead, 11-2. Alvernia then got one more goal on the night with an unassisted goal for Makenna Thomas as the clock hit zero for the 11-3 final.

Smith finished with a team-high two goals for Alvernia. Kayleigh Kight led Alvernia with three draw controls and she also finished with three caused turnovers. Cailyn Hawley finished with a team-high five caused turnovers and five ground balls. Hannah Wolfe matched her career high with 12 saves in goal. She also had two caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday hosting Stockton in its final non-conference contest of the season.
