Golden Wolves Fall to Falcons, 12-3

Reading, Pa. (April 23, 2025) - Messiah University (6-10, 3-3) jumped out to an 8-1 lead at the half and never looked back en route to a 12-3 win over Alvernia University (6-9, 0-6) on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth men's lacrosse action at Alvernia.

The Falcons took an early 3-0 lead through the first five and a half minutes of action. But, Alvernia got on the board with a goal by Zackary Moats off the assist of Charles Oberman with 5:37 to play in the opening quarter. The Falcons tacked on one more goal a minute later to take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.

Messiah then blanked Alvernia in the second quarter while scoring four goals of its own to take an 8-1 lead going into the half.

The Falcons built their lead up to nine goals, 10-1, in the opening minutes of the second half. But, Oberman scored two goals for the Golden Wolves in the latter half of the third quarter to cut it down to seven, 10-3, going into the final frame.

Messiah built its lead back up to eight, 11-3, with a goal four minutes into the fourth quarter. After Alvernia held Messiah scoreless for nearly eight minutes, the Falcons added onto their lead, 12-3, on a goal off an Alvernia turnover with 3:23 to play. The Golden Wolves made two stops on the Falcons in the final two minutes, but Messiah took the 12-3 win.

Charles Oberman led Alvernia with three points off of two goals and an assist. Jack Kenney finished 11-for-16 on the faceoff dot and also had a game-high six ground balls. Both Christian Wright and Wesley Cleminson finished with five ground balls. Dane Sabarese finished with 12 saves in net for Alvernia.

The Golden Wolves close out their season on Saturday hosting Albright in a doubleheader with the Women's Lacrosse team.
