Reading, Pa (April 25, 2025) - Alvernia University (23-14, 14-5) dropped game one of a MAC Commonwealth baseball series to York College (19-17, 13-6) 9-0, Friday afternoon in Angelica Park. 

The Spartans scored all nine runs in just three innings to secure the 9-0 victory and take a 1-0 lead in the series. 

How it Happened 

• The Golden Wolves and the Spartans played four innings of scoreless baseball before the Spartans grabbed the lead in the top of the fifth inning after a five spot. York started with a bases loaded walk to score a run and then a two RBI single tacked on two more. An Alvernia wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to center added two more to give the Spartans a 5-0 advantage. 
• York added on three more runs in the top of the sixth inning after a three run homerun down the left field line made it an 8-0 ballagame. 
• The Spartans tacked on another run in the top of the seventh after a sacrifice fly to center field was deep enough to allow the runner on third to tag and pushed the lead to 9-0. 
• The York pitching staff continued to shut down the Golden Wolves and secured the 9-0 victory over Alvernia.
