Reading, Pa (April 5, 2025) - Alvernia University (6-4, 0-1) dropped its MAC Commonwealth opener to Widener University (2-9, 1-0) 19-1, Saturday afternoon in a men's lacrosse matchup at Alvernia. 

Widener held a 13-0 lead at the half and then tallied six goals in the second half to secure the 19-1 victory. 

How it Happened 

• Widener grabbed an early lead after the first 15 minutes of the game after they tallied six goals in the first quarter. Samuel Haverstrom and Matt Buckley both recorded two goals apiece. 
• The Pride then tacked on seven more goals in the second quarter of the game to take a 13-0 lead over the Golden Wolves at the half. 
• Widener added two more goals in the first ten minutes of the third quarter to push the lead to 15-0. 
• Ethan McManus netted the only goal for the Golden Wolves in the final four minutes of the third quarter after an assist from Zackary Moats to make it 15-1. 
• The Pride scored one more goal at the end of the third quarter and three in the fourth to secure the 19-1 victory over the Golden Wolves.
