Reading, Pa. (April 8, 2025) - Alvernia Men's Tennis (1-3, 1-1) dropped a closely contested MAC Commonwealth Men's Tennis match to Eastern University (4-9, 2-1) on a cold and blustery day in Angelica Park on Tuesday evening. 

Alvernia took #1 doubles, with Lucas Berger and Jayden Lewis grabbing a 6-3 win. But, Eastern grabbed the one match point available in doubles play after taking #2 and #3 doubles.

Alvernia retook the lead, 2-1, with Lewis making quick work of #2 singles and grabbing his match 6-0, 6-1. Luke Brisbois also picked up a quick two-set win at #3 singles, 7-5, 6-3. Berger joined Lewis and Brisbois in the win column, after taking #1 singles 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

But, with Alvernia leading 3-1, the Eagles grabbed the final three points available in the match. Eastern took #6 singles by forfeit and #5 singles over Andrew Kao. The match came down to the #4 match between Alvernia's Duncan McDowell and Eastern's Jeremy Brown. McDowell took the first set, 6-3. But, Eastern grabbed the second set to tie the match and took the third set, 7-5.

Alvernia is back in action on Saturday at Albright.
