Reading, Pa (April 9, 2025) - Alvernia University (2-10, 0-2) fell to #8/#13 York College (9-3, 2-0) 19-1 Wednesday evening in a MAC Commonwealth women's lacrosse matchup at Alvernia University.
York - who is ranked eighth in the nation by the IWLCA and 13th in the NCAA NPI - got on the board 90 seconds into the game on a free position goal. York then made it a 2-0 game three minutes later, and that goal opened the gates for the Spartans. York scored six more goals the rest of the first quarter to take an 8-0 lead into the half. York then added another six in the second quarter to take a 15-0 lead into the half. The Spartans held Alvernia to one shot on goal in the first half.
The Spartans kept it rolling in the second half. York made it a 16-0 game with 13:12 remaining in the third. Alvernia got on the board on an excellent goal by
Mia Martin with ten minutes to play in the third. York scored three more the rest of the way for the 19-1 final.
Kayleigh Kight led Alvernia with three draw controls, and
Hannah Tyler had a team-high three ground balls. Both Tyler and
Olivia Malone finished with two caused turnovers.
Marissa Zocco finished with five saves for Alvernia, all in the second half.
Alvernia is back in action on Saturday at Stevenson.
