Reading, Pa. (June 30, 2025) - Alvernia University Men's Basketball student-athlete
Robert Cottrell earned Academic All-MAC honors for his performance on the court and in the classroom during the 2024-25 season, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference on Monday.
The MAC sports information directors nominate and vote for the Academic All-MAC teams, giving 50 percent weight on both academic success and athletic success. A student-athlete must have a spring semester grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher to be eligible for the award.
Cottrell, a first-year majoring in business management, is one of ten men's basketball players in the MAC to earn Academic All-MAC honors. He is the only first-year student-athlete to make the team.
Cottrell was the 2024-25 MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year. He played in 28 games and made 27 starts for the Golden Wolves. Cottrell finished his first-year campaign with 324 points and averaged 11.6 points per game. He finished the season with a .453 field goal percentage and a .372 3-point percentage. Cottrell finished the season with 65 assists and 35 steals. He also added nine blocks and 68 rebounds.
