Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | By Nick Anderson (Athletic Communications Assistant)

Arcadia Downs Alvernia, 3-1

Glenside, Pa (August 31, 2025) - Alvernia University (0-1-1) dropped a non-conference men's soccer match-up to Arcadia University (1-0-1) by a score of 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Arcadia.

The Knights were awarded two penalty kicks in the contest - scoring off a rebounded on the first PK, and directly on the second. Arcadia scored its third goal of the game in open play to secure the 3-1 win over Alvernia.

How it Happened
  • Arcadia wasted little time getting on the board. With just 1:11 off the clock, Arcadia sent a pass up that split a pair of Alvernia defenders. Arcadia's Scott Jordan collected the pass, beat a defender, and sent a short cross pass to Logan Watkins. Watkins fired inside the left post and past the reach of a diving Evan Solley to give Arcadia the early 1-0 lead.
  • Alvernia had a great opportunity in the 22nd minute. Connor Kraycik sent a hard shot toward the goal after dribbling around the Arcadia keeper, a Knight's defender then got a foot on it and sent it rattling off the crossbar to keep the Golden Wolves away from a leveler.
  • With about eight minutes left in the opening half, Arcadia was awarded a penalty kick after Alvernia committed a handball in the box. Solley made the initial save off the penalty kick attempt of Sean Lock, but Lock quickly collected the rebound and tapped it into goal to give the Knights the 2-0 lead heading into the half.
  • The Golden Wolves pulled one back in the 67th minute of the contest after Kraycik received a pass from Aidan Courtney. Kraycik then made a nice turn to get the Arcadia defender off his back, fired a low shot back across the face of the goal and slipped it inside the far post to give the Golden Wolves some momentum.
  • Alvernia continued to ride the momentum and shortly after making it a 2-1 game, Arcadia's goalie was sent off for a challenge on Joseph Washington just outside of the 18 yard box. The Golden Wolves sent three shots on the new Arcadia keeper in the next ten minutes but were unable to find a game tying goal.
  • Down to ten men, Arcadia tacked on an insurance goal in the 79th minute to seal the 3-1 victory over the Golden Wolves.
