Reading, Pa. (Aug. 5, 2025) - Alvernia University Men's Soccer graduate
Ryan Cogill was named the MAC Commonwealth nominee for the 2025 Division III Commissioner's Association (DIIICA) Student Athlete of the Year award, as announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) on Tuesday.
The DIIICA Student Athlete of the Year Award honors men and women student-athletes who have exhausted their athletic eligibility (graduating seniors or graduate students that have not been nominated in previous years are the only eligible student-athletes). These student-athletes exhibit excellence both in the classroom and on the track, field, court and mat while also serving their local communities.Â
Cogill, who graduated in May with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, was the 2024 MAC Men's Soccer Senior-Scholar Athlete and was the 2024 MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year. Cogill was a 2024 First Team USC Scholar All-American and a two-time USC Scholar All-Region honoree. He was also 2024 Academic All-MAC honoree.
Cogill finished his career as the all-time leader for Alvernia in goals scored with 42 and in points scored with 103. Throughout his career, Cogill earned All-MAC Commonwealth honors three times and All-Region honors twice. He was named the 2024 ECAC Player of the Year and was the 2024 NCAA statistical leader in penalty kick percentage (100%, 7-for-7) this season.Â
Cogill helped lead Alvernia to a 2023 ECAC title and MAC Commonwealth postseason appearances all four seasons of his career.
