Alvernia Falls to #11 Dickinson, 5-1

Carlisle, Pa. (Sep. 13, 2025) - #11 Dickinson College (1-3-2) used four first half goals to take a 5-1 win over Alvernia University (1-3-2) on Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at Dickinson.

The Red Devils 2-0 through the first 37 minutes, but then scored goals in both the 38th and 40th minute to take a 4-0 lead into the half. Alvernia got one back in the second half, but Dickinson pushed it back to a four-goal differential with an 84th minute goal.

How it Happened
  • The Red Devils pressured Alvernia early, firing off five shots in the opening 15 minutes. Dickinson then got on the board with a goal early in the 17th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Dickinson kept peppering Alvernia, and Evan Solley made four saves over the next ten minutes. But, the Red Devils found the back of the net again on a goal in the 28th minute to make it 2-0.
  • Dickinson then doubled-up on its lead with two goals in two minutes late in the 38th minute and again late in the 40th minute. Dickinson took its 4-0 lead into the half, holding Alvernia without a shot through the first 45 minutes.
  • Alvernia fired off its first two shots of the game in the early minutes of the second half. Christopher Hille's attempt was off target, but Connor Kraycik was able to get one on goal. The Red Devils made the save to keep it 4-0.
  • Alvernia got on the board in the 78th minute to end the Red Devil's shutout attempt. Alvernia was awarded a free kick and Eli Kinger stepped up to take the kick for Alvernia. Klinger sent the kick right on goal and buried the free kick into the upper right corner to make it a 4-1 game.
  • Alvernia was held without a shot on goal the rest of the way while Dickinson tacked one more onto its total for the afternoon with an 84th minute goal. The 5-1 score held the rest of the way.
Inside the Box Score
  • Evan Solley finished with four saves in 56 minutes. Nick Rothenberger finished off the contest, but did not record a save.
  • Alvernia finished with six total shots, two of which were on goal.
