Golden Wolves Fall to Lions in Straight Sets

Middletown, Pa (September 16, 2025) - Alvernia University (4-4) dropped a non-conference women's volleyball matchup to Penn State Harrisburg (5-3), 3-0, Tuesday evening at Penn State Harrisburg's Capital Union Building. 

PSU Harrisburg took all three sets in a row and took the first set 25-8, the second set 25-15 and then secured the match victory with a 25-16 set three victory. 

How it Happened 
  • The Lions jumped out to a 3-2 lead in the first set before going on a 17-5 scoring run to take a commanding lead in the first set, 20-5. PSU Harrisburg then ended the first set on a 5-1 scoring run to take the first set 25-8. 
  • PSU Harrisburg continued to control the match in the second set and scored 11 of the first 13 points of the set to force an Alvernia time out with an 11-2 lead. The Lions then tallied a 9-3 scoring run after the timeout to extend the lead to 20-5. 
  • The Golden Wolves rattled off five of the next nine points and ended the set on a 10-5 run but it was not enough as the Lions held on for a 25-15 set two victory to take a 2-0 lead in the match. 
  • The Golden Wolves were the ones to grab the lead early in the third set and took a 4-2 lead thanks to a few kills from Allison Wolf and one from Olivia Rohrbaugh. PSU Harrisburg then turned around and recorded a 13-5 scoring run that swung the lead in its favor, 15-9. 
  • Harrisburg ended the final set on a 10-7 run to take the third set 25-16 and secure the 3-0 match victory.
