Mustangs Down Golden Wolves, 35-13

Reading, Pa. (Sep. 20, 2025) - Stevenson University (3-0) jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first half and never looked back en route to a 35-13 win over Alvernia University (0-3) on Saturday afternoon in MAC football action at Alvernia.

Stevenson led 7-0 after the half and built it up to a 21-0 lead at the half. The Mustangs led 28-0 after an early second half touchdown before Alvernia got on the board. Alvernia scored the lone touchdown of the fourth quarter, but the Mustangs took the 35-13 win.

How it Happened
  • After a trading of opening possessions, Stevenson needed just two plays on its second drive to get on the board. The Mustangs' Louis Clouser broke through for a 41 yard rushing touchdown to make it an early 7-0 game.
  • The Mustangs opened the second quarter with a lengthy drive - going 85-yards over 11 plays and finding the end zone on an eight yard rush by Jordan Adams to take a 14-0 lead with ten minutes to play in the second quarter. The Mustangs then made it a 21-0 game later in the second quarter as a 55-yard pass from Jordan Adams to Dillon Johnson set up a 2-yard rush by Adams to give Stevenson a 21-0 lead.
  • Alvernia got the ball back with four minutes to play in the opening half. The Golden Wolves moved the ball well early in the drive, with Dante Viccharelli connecting with Treson Whitlow for two receptions of 10+ yards. But, Alvernia's drive stalled with a penalty and a fumbled snap. Stevenson got the ball back with 12 seconds left and made an attempt at a 61-yard field goal. But, the attempt was no good as the Mustangs took a 21-0 lead into the half. Stevenson out gained Alvernia 268 yards to 107 yards in the first half.
  • Alvernia went 3-and-out on its first drive of the second half. The Mustangs got the ball on Alvernia's 29-yard line after Alvernia punted from its own end zone. Stevenson needed just one play - a 29-yard reception to make it a 28-0 game.
  • Alvernia opened its next drive with a 76-yard return by Jayden Stanfield to the Mustang's 22-yard line. Alvernia quickly faced a 4th and 7 on the Stevenson 19, and the Golden Wolves opted to go for it. Viccharelli scrambled for an 11-yard pickup for a fresh set of downs. JJ Gonzalez then found Whitlow for an 11-yard connection to put Alvernia on the board, 28-7, with 11:48 to play in the third quarter.
  • After Alvernia made a defensive stop on Stevenon's ensuing drive, the Mustangs got the ball back just two plays later. Gonzalez made two great moves to avoid a safety, but he was picked off after Stevenson's Benjamin Choen scooped a throw away ball off the ground. Stevenson scored four plays later on a Clouser 6-yard rush to make it a 35-7 game with eight minutes to play in the third.
  • Stevenson was driving again to open the fourth quarter, but Alvernia put an end to the 15-play, 71-yard drive with Kojo Totimeh blocking a 27-yard field goal attempt.
  • The Golden Wolves and Mustangs traded possessions before Alvernia got the ball back on its own 17-yard line with 4:45 to play. A pass interference on the Mustangs moved the chains for Alvernia, and a roughing the passer call three plays later moved Alvernia to the edge of Mustang territory. A 9-yard completion from JT Timmons to Michael Williams, followed by a 13-yard pass from Timmons to Whitlow put Alvernia on the Mustang 28-yard line. Timmons then connected with Stanfield for a 24-yard connection to give Alvernia a first and goal on the four yard line. Timmons then finished the drive off himself, picking up a fumbled handoff and rushing the ball in for a touchdown.
  • Stevenson took over with 1:33 to play, and on its first play of the drive had a pass picked off by Nassire Furman. Alvernia got the ball back, but couldn't get anything going as the clock expired for the 35-13 final.
