First Half Goal Powers Dutchmen Past Golden Wolves, 1-0

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 3, 2025) - Lebanon Valley College (2-0-0) used a late first-half goal to down Alvernia University (0-1-1) in non-conference women's soccer action on Wednesday night at Alvernia.

After peppering Alvernia in the first half, the Dutchmen broke through in the 43rd minute off an excellent pass to take the 1-0 lead. The Golden Wolves and Dutchmen were even in the shot column in the second half, but Lebanon Valley held onto the one goal lead all the way through.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves and Dutchmen traded shots on goal in the opening minutes. Lebanon Valley's came early in the third minute, and Emily Rossino made the early save in goal for the Golden Wolves. Sarah Warner put a ball on net for Alvernia just under a minute later, but Camryn Porter, the Dutchmen keeper, made a stop of her own to keep the game at 0-0.
  • After some steady possession by the Dutchmen, Abby Stair fired in a shot for the Golden Wolves in the 34th minute, but the attempt hit the crossbar and landed on top of the goal to keep the game at 0-0.
  • The Dutchmen peppered the Golden Wolves throughout the first half, and connected late in the 43rd minute. Lebanon Valley's Allison Sepkovic sent in a nearly 45-yard pass. The pass connected with teammate Abrielle Miller, who knocked it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
  • The Golden Wolves had the first look on net in the second half, with Warner sending in a shot on goal in the 52nd minute. But, Porter  made the stop to maintain the 1-0 lead.
  • Sepkovic nearly scored one of her own just over a minute after Warner's look, but Abby Rowley made a great save just off the post.
  • Alvernia had its final shot on goal of the night come off the foot of Tayler Flaherty in the 71st minute, but Porter made the save to keep Alvernia off the board. The Dutchmen held Alvernia off the rest of the way for the 1-0 final.
