Flaherty, McDonough Lead Golden Wolves Past Aggies, 4-0

Doylestown, Pa. (September 30, 2025) - Alvernia University (3-4-3) took down Delaware Valley University (3-6-1), 4-0, behind two goals from Tayler Flaherty and Macy McDonough in a non-conference women's soccer matchup Tuesday night at Delaware Valley.

Flaherty netted her two goals in the first 30 minutes of the contest and McDonough tacked on her two insurance goals in the second half to lead the Golden Wolves to the 4-0 shutout victory over the Aggies.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves struck first in the 17th minute after Tayler Flaherty found some space on the right wing just outside of the 18 yard box, Flaherty then ripped a shot towards goal and into the top left corner of the goal to put the Golden Wolves up 1-0 early.
  • Alvernia doubled the lead in the 30th minute after the Golden Wolves were awarded a penalty kick. Flaherty was called to the spot to take the chance and she buried it to net her second goal of the half.
  • The Golden Wolves fended off three shots in the final 15 minutes of the first half including two shots on goal but keeper Emily Rossino saved both to secure the 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
  • Alvernia tacked on a third goal just over two minutes into the second half after Abby Stair connected with Macy McDonough off a free header in the midfield. McDonough then took the ball and drove toward the Aggies goal, she then fended off a defender and dribbled around the Del Val goalkeeper and finished the ball in the back of the net to make it a 3-0 game.
  • McDonough tallied her second goal of the contest in the 62nd minute after netting an unassisted goal to make it a 4-0 Golden Wolves advantage.
  • Alvernia held off three shots in the final 25 minutes of action with two going on net but the Alvernia defense and keeper Abby Rowley held strong to secure the 4-0 victory over the Aggies.
