Reading, Pa. (Sep. 4, 2025) - Alvernia Football will hit the field at home on Friday night for the kickoff of the 2025 season. This season marks the start of Alvernia's seventh complete season of football, and will be the fifth straight year the Golden Wolves open with Ursinus.

Alvernia will host the Bears for the first time since 2022, and just the second time at home in the series after back-to-back season-openers in Collegeville. The Bears lead the series, 4-0, and have held Alvernia to 14 points or less in three of the four meetings. Alvernia's best offensive performance against the Bears occurred at home back in 2022, scoring 27 points with 443 yards of total offense. 

The Bears are coming off one of their most successful seasons in program history. Ursinus finished the year with nine wins and their first NCAA appearance since 1999. 

Alvernia's offense will be anchored by returning offensive lineman Payton Brunner, Garin Hyvesson, Owen Reber, Carl Taylor, and Eli Curran. They will be protecting returning running-backs Ozmere Jones and Andrew Simmons, as well as junior quarterback JJ Gonzalez and first-year quarterback Jaden Randall. 

On the defensive side, Alvernia is young but will be anchored by defensive line returners Michael Terrell and Kojo Totimeh.Seniors McCabe Piavis and Anthony Hugee will lead the linebackers, and seniors Jyleen Neals and Ta'Jier Burrus lead the secondary.

Kickoff of the 2025 season will be at 7:30 PM on Friday, September 5. The stadium will open at 6:00 PM with ticketing taking place between the Campus Commons and Physical Education Center.
