Four Golden Wolves Earn All-MAC Honors at 2026 MAC Championships

Grantham, Pa. (January 17, 2026) - Alvernia University men's wrestling had four Golden Wolves earn All-MAC honors for their performances at the 2026 MAC Men's Wrestling Championships Saturday at Messiah's Hitchcock Arena. 

Hayden McLellan and Owen Reber both recorded second place finishes in their respective weight classes with McLellan doing so in the 184 pound weight class and Reber in the 285 pound weight class. Aiden Swann followed with a third place finish at 141 pounds and Luke Thomas recorded a third place finish at 165 pounds to round out the All-MAC honorees for the Golden Wolves. 

Alvernia finished in fourth place as a team with 107.5 team points. Hosts Messiah earned the team title with 140 team points, Stevens finished in second place with 129.5 and Misericordia took third with 109.5 team points. 

How it Happened 
  • Hayden McLellan recorded a second place finish in the 184 pound bracket and posted back to back falls to start his day and advance to the semifinals. McLellan then recorded a 5-2 decision over Misericordia's Robbie Anderson to book his ticket to the 184 pound title bout. McLellan then dropped a tight, 9-7, decision to Albright's Abdoul Akala to take second and earn Second Team All-MAC honors. 
  • Owen Reber also posted a second place finish in the 285 pound bracket and earned All-MAC honors for the second year in a row. Reber started with a fall in the first round and then a 4-0 decision in the quarterfinal to advance to the semifinals. Reber then took down teammate Tristan Cooper by decision, 7-2, to punch his ticket to the 285 pound title. Reber then fell to Arcadia's Logan Flynn by major decision in the final to take second and earn Second Team All-MAC honors. 
  • Aiden Swann posted a third place finish in the 141 pound bracket and earned his first All-MAC honor of his career. Swann dropped his first match to Nico Diaz from Stevens but bounced back with three straight victories in the consolation bracket including victories by fall, major decision and decision to head to the consi-semis. Swann then pulled out a 4-1 sudden victory over Misericordia's Nikosh Marston to book his ticket to the third place match. Swann then recorded a fall over York's Jacob Grzybek to take third and secure Third Team All-MAC honors. 
  • Luke Thomas recorded a third place finish to earn Third Team All-MAC honors in his MAC Championships debut. Thomas tallied a tech fall in the first match but then dropped his second match to fall to the consolation bracket. Thomas then ripped off two victories by decision and one by fall to advance to the 165 pound 3rd place match. Thomas then defeated Tyler Roe from Stevens, who he had lost to earlier in the day, 8-1, to grab third place and Third Team All-MAC honors at 165 pounds. 
  • Jason Chiodi took fourth in the 197 pound bracket for the Golden Wolves and recorded a tech fall in the first round of the day but then dropped the quarterfinal match by fall. Chiodi bounced back with a 4-1 sudden victory over Messiah's Tim Eddinger and then posted a 8-6 decision over York's Luca Romasco. Chiodi then recorded a 9-1 major decision to advance to the third place match but he dropped the third place bout to Terrence Thomas from Stevens to take fourth in the 197 pound bracket. 
  • Tristan Cooper also recorded a fourth place finish in the 285 pound and started his championship off with back to back victories by major decision to advance to the 285 pound semifinals. Cooper then fell to teammate Owen Reber in the semis by decision, 7-2, to fall to the consi-semis. Cooper would go onto record a 10-7 decision over Kaleb Britting from Messiah to book his ticket to the third place match but he dropped the third place match to Aiden Hidlay by decision, 5-1, to take fourth. 
  • William Knapp rounded out the fourth place finishers for the Golden Wolves with a fourth place finish in the 174 pound bracket. Knapp got his day going with a 10-2 major decision and then a close 7-6 decision over Ian Flanagan in the quarterfinals. Knapp then fell to Andrew Kozubal from Messiah by decision, 17-15, to fall to the consi-semis. Knapp then responded with a 19-4 tech fall over Messiah's Nick Montanye to head to the third place match but dropped another close decision to Flanagan, 11-9, to take fourth place honors. 
  • Quinn Tobin posted a fifth place finish in the 141 pound bracket and started his day with back to back major decisions to book his ticket to the semifinals. Tobin then dropped the semifinal and the consi-semi to head to the fifth place match. Tobin bounced back with a tight, 2-1 decision over Nikosh Marston from Misericordia to secure fifth place honors at the final MAC Championships of his career. 
  • Chance Babb finished sixth in the 149 pound bracket and started his day with three straight falls to punch his ticket to the 149 semifinals. Babb then dropped the semi to Michael Williams from Misericordia by decision, 4-2, to drop to the consi-semis. Babb then was forced to medical forfeit in the final two matches of the day to take sixth place. 
  • Myles Brown rounded out the Golden Wolves who finished on the podium and recorded a sixth place finish in the 197 pound bracket. Brown got things going with a 10-6 decision in his first match but then dropped the quarterfinal match to Terrence Thomas by major decision. Brown then responded with a 14-5 major decision and a 7-4 decision to advance to the consi-semifinals. Brown would fall to Tucker Seidel from Messiah to fall to the fifth place match where he was bested by Thomas again to take sixth in the 197 pound bracket.

  • The Golden Wolves are back in action next weekend when they travel to Millersville for the Millersville Duals on Saturday.
