Three Goal Third Period Lifts Alvernia Past Arcadia, 3-2

Reading, Pa. (Jan. 18, 2026) - Alvernia University (10-6, 8-4) scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the third period to complete a 3-2 comeback win over Arcadia University (5-7-2, 3-7-2) on Sunday evening in MAC Men's Ice Hockey action at Body Zone.

The Knights led 2-0 through the first two periods, but Alvernia came into the third period firing. The Golden Wolves got on the board a minute into the period, and evened the game at 2-2 on a power-play goal five minutes into the period. Alvernia then scored the game-winner with ten minutes to play before holding off the Knights in the final stretch.

After a back-and-forth opening 15 minutes of action, the Knights began to pressure the Golden Wolves through the final minutes of the opening frame. The Knights then were awarded a power-play and broke through 90 seconds into the extra-man opportunity. Russ Tedesco fired a one-time from just inside the blue line to put the Knights on the board, 1-0. Alvernia had three looks in the final minute of the period, but could not convert.

The Knights doubled up on their lead, 2-0, late in the second period. Arcadia scored on another shot fired in from just inside the blueline with 90 seconds to go in the period. The Knights outshot Alvernia 20-14 overall in the period, and 12-5 on net.

The Golden Wolves came out of the second intermission firing. Edvin Robertsson got Alvernia on the board just a minute into the period, firing in from the faceoff dot off the assists of Anthony Piccininno and Matthew Davies.

Alvernia then evened the game up at 2-2 four minutes later on a power-play as Gabriel Flammia tapped the puck in off the post on a diving attempt off the assists of Piccininno and Joey Arnold.

The Golden Wolves then nearly tied the game at 3-3 a few minutes later as Arnold appeared to get the puck over the goal line. But, the officials called it a no-goal as the game remained tied at 2-2.

Alvernia broke the tie at the midpoint of the period with Leo Cabulis firing in a shot off the assists of Will White and Frazer Dodd to give the Golden Wolves the 3-2 lead.
