Alvernia Falls to King’s, 2-0

Reading, Pa. (January 30, 2026) - Alvernia University (11-8-0, 9-6-0) tallied 43 shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net as King's College (3-14-2, 3-10-2) down the Golden Wolves, 2-0, Friday night in a MAC men's ice hockey tilt at Body Zone. 

After a scoreless first period, the Monarchs grabbed the lead six minutes into the second period and then tacked on one more goal for insurance in the final minute of the game to secure the 2-0 victory. 

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves controlled the offensive side of the game in the first period and recorded 24 total shots with 13 going on net but could not find the back of the net as the game headed to the first intermission level at zero. 
  • King's grabbed the lead six minutes into the second period after Thomas Soucy and Teodor Benno Vaage assisted Braydon Buckingham to put the Monarchs in the lead, 1-0. 
  • The Golden Wolves had a change to come level with the Monarchs in the final six minutes of the second period after they peppered the King's goal with 11 shots in three minutes including a shot by Frazer Dodd that hit the pipe but Alvernia still could not find the back of the net as the game headed to the second intermission with King's leading, 1-0. 
  • The Monarchs won the shots on goal battle in the final period of the day and recorded 13 shots on goal to Alvernia's 11 including tacking on an insurance goal in the final minute of the game to secure the 2-0 victory over the Golden Wolves. 

Inside the Box Score 
  • Matthew Davies led the way with five shots on goal for the Golden Wolves and Leo Cabulis also tallied five shots on goal and recorded a team high 11 faceoff wins. 
  • Jack Natyshak followed with ten faceoff wins and ripped four shots on goal and Edvin Robertsson also tallied four shots on goal.
  • Connor Graham tallied 23 saves in net for the Golden Wolves.
