Golden Wolves Skate Past Knights on Senior Day, 4-1

Reading, Pa. (January 31, 2026) - Alvernia University (10-8-0, 9-7-0) netted three goals in the second period en route to a 4-1 victory over Neumann University (5-15-0, 3-13-0) Saturday afternoon in a MAC women's ice hockey tilt at Body Zone.

Prior to the game, Alvernia Women's Ice Hockey honored its 2026 senior class.

After a scoreless first period, the Golden Wolves broke it open in the second period and netted three goals and never looked back. Alvernia tacked on one more insurance goal in the third period and Neumann broke the shutout with a goal in the final three minutes of the game but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves secured the three goal victory on senior day.

How it Happened
  • The Golden Wolves controlled the offensive side of the puck in the first period and rattled off 11 shots on goal to Neumann's three but were unable to put the puck into the net as the game headed to the first intermission scoreless.
  • Alvernia then came out in the second period and put the game to rest with three goals to grab a 3-0 lead. Erin Schutt started things off with an unassisted goal seven minutes into the second period to put the Golden Wolves up 1-0.
  • Alvernia doubled its lead six minutes later when Sofia King connected with Maddie Morris, Morris then fired a shot on goal that was saved but the puck fell to Noelle De Magistris and she buried the puck into the back of the net to make it a 2-0 Alvernia lead.
  • The Golden Wolves made it three two minutes later when Khenzie Connick collected the rebound off of a Marissa Caswell shot on goal, Connick then slotted the puck into the back of the net to give Alvernia a 3-0 lead heading to the third period.
  • Connick then tallied her second goal of the game and pushed the Alvernia lead to four goals ten minutes into the third period. Connick got the puck in the Alvernia defensive zone from teammate Emma Hart, Connick then weaved her way up the ice and buried the puck past the Neumann goalie and into the back of the net.
  • Neumann notched one goal in the final three minutes of the game but it was not enough as the Golden Wolves secured the 4-1 victory over the Knights.
