How it Happened

  • Alvernia retook the lead at the midpoint of the quarter, 16-15, following a Janye Stanley 3-pointer and a layup in transition by Bell-Hudson after he forced a Widener turnover. The Golden Wolves pushed their lead up to seven, 25-18, over the next three minutes with a Kareem Diaz giving Alvernia the seven point advantage with 7:07 left in the first half.
  • The Pride closed back in and evened the game at 30-30 with 4:28 to play in the half. The two sides tied twice more before Widener took a 39-36 lead on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to close out the first half.
  • The Golden Wolves and Pride continued the back and forth into the second half. Alvernia took a four point advantage, 50-46, on a Hamilton layup five minutes into the half and made it a six point game, 52-46, on a pair of made free throws by Jones. A driving layup by Diaz then made it an eight point game, 54-46, with 13:52 to play.
  • Like in the first half, the Pride once again strung together a 14-4 run to retake the lead, 60-58, with 8:27 to play. Alvernia evened the game on a layup by Diaz before Widener built its lead up to seven, 72-65, with just under six minutes to play.
  • The Golden Wolves got back within five, 75-70, on a pair of made layups by Hamilton and Jones.
