Golden Wolves Fall to Colonels, 3-2

Reading, Pa. (February 14, 2026) - Alvernia University (14-10-0, 12-8-0) netted three goals in the third period but it was not enough as Wilkes University (14-7-3, 11-7-2) recorded a 3-2 victory over the Golden Wolves Saturday evening in a MAC men's ice hockey matchup at Body Zone. 

The Colonels grabbed a 2-0 lead after the first two periods of hockey and tacked on a third goal in the first four minutes of the third period but the Golden Wolves made a push and tallied two goals in the final period but it was not enough as the Colonels secured the 3-2 victory. 

How it Happened
  • Wilkes took the lead in the first period after a goal from Daniel Nau put the Colonels up 1-0. 
  • The Golden Wolves rattled off ten shots on the Wilkes net but could not put the puck into the back of the net as the game headed to the first intermission with the Colonels holding a 1-0 lead. 
  • The Colonels added to its lead in a second period that they controlled the offensive zone in and found their second goal with nine minutes to play in the period after Jack Lee found the back of the net to send the game into the final intermission with Wilkes holding a 2-0 advantage. 
  • Wilkes made it three just three minutes into the final period but the Golden Wolves responded with a goal just over a minute later when Jack Terhaar and Brock Mueller assisted Edvin Robertsson to pull the Golden Wolves back within two, 3-1. 
  • The Golden Wolves then began a late push to get back into the game and rattled off 13 shots at the Wilkes net with six going on target before Robertsson assisted Gabriel Flammia to pull the Golden Wolves within one, 3-2. 
  • Alvernia made one last push late in the period and pulled goalie Connor Graham to get an advantage but both shots from Frazer Dodd were blocked by Wilkes Jordan Carter as the Colonels secured the 3-2 victory.
