Golden Wolves Compete at NCAA DIII Region III Regionals

Ewing, N.J. (February 27, 2026) - Four Alvernia University Men's Wrestlers advanced to day two of the NCAA DIII Region III Regional Championships Friday at The College of New Jersey.

Hayden McLellan, Chance Babb, Quinn Tobin and Owen Reber all advanced to day two of the tournament in their respective weight classes. McLellan and Babb booked spots in the semifinal matches and Reber and Tobin are fighting their way back in the consolation brackets.

How it Happened

Hayden McLellan recorded three wins on Friday and booked his spot in the 184 pound semifinals with an impressive three tech falls. McLellan started his day with a 18-2 tech fall over King's Jake Bobersky and then followed that with a 17-0 tech fall over Joe Deitz from Gettysburg. McLellan recorded his third tech fall of the afternoon with a 16-1 victory over Robbie Anderson from Misericordia to punch his ticket to the 184 pound semifinals.
Chance Babb also booked a spot in a semifinal with a 3-0 record on the day in the 149 pound weight class. Babb started his day off with back to back tech falls with a 16-0 victory over Scranton's Shkeb Nadir and an 18-2 victory over Carlos Panchana from Delaware Valley. Babb then headed to the quarterfinal and grinded out a 8-5 sudden victory over Messiah's Levi Snyder to advance to the 149 pound semifinal for the second straight year.
Quinn Tobin posted a 2-1 record on the day to advance to day two of the championships. Tobin started his day out with a bye in the 141 pound bracket and then tallied a 15-0 tech fall over Marymount's Temuujin Erdenetuya. Tobin then dropped the quarterfinal match to TCNJ's Vincent Santaiello, the #5 ranked 141 pounder in the country. Tobin bounced back in a big way with a victory by fall over Misericordia's Nikosh Marston to stay alive in the tournament.
Owen Reber rounded out the Golden Wolves that advanced to the final day of the Regional tournament and tallied a 2-1 record in the 285 pound bracket. Reber earned a bye to start the day and then recorded a victory by fall over Messiah's Kaleb Britting in 1:49 to head to the 285 pound quarterfinals. Reber dropped the quarterfinal bout to #11th ranked Mo Abdelatty from Ursinus and dropped into the consolidation bracket but Reber responded in a big way and pinned Kaden Bryan from McDaniel in 4:58 to stay alive and advance to Saturday.
William Knapp recorded a 2-2 record at the championships and after dropping his first match of the day battled back with back to back wins in the consolation bracket but fell in the fourth round of the 174 pound consolation bracket.
Ian Vitalo, Luke Thomas and Rocco Monteferrante all recorded 1-2 records on the day and Steven Harris fell in his first two matches of the tournament.

The Golden Wolves are back in action tomorrow when they head back to TCNJ for day two of the NCAA DIII Region III Championships.
Chance Babb will take on Jake Mitchell from Gettysburg in a 149 pound semifinal and Hayden McLellan will face off against NYU's Justin Mays in a 184 pound semifinal.
Quinn Tobin will face off against Gettysburg's Brendan Callahan in the 141 pound consolation bracket and Owen Reber will take on Simon Taylor from Gettysburg in the 285 pound bracket.
